how does a meeting of the top 300 CEOs have anything to do with protesting against things such as troops in iraq and work policies?

anyway this meeting can benefit sydney with new business opportunities as the international CEOs might decide to invest and start up companies in australi and sydney

I ended up not going, as you can see by the time i posted this.

It's because, as I said, the communists can't coordinate their labour force:p
The Communists didn't organise it. The 30a organised, and they never stated what numbers there was going to be. It was the government and the police that exagerated the numbers.

Many of these CEO's were pro war, as they make money out of reconstruction.

Stop the war on Iraq.. It's killing innocent people
Um can you at least keep up with the current rhetoric, not even the US government still hold claim that Iraq had anything to do with September 11.

Being a uni student and being an utter moron are not mutually exclusive.

If i had nothing better to do tonight, and they paid me, i would probably go along with. Although it would have to enough for travel expenses and at least a carton of alcohol to make it worthwile.

on the flip side, are people here worried about corporate accountability?

there is a willingness by many here to shit on the intentions of 'communists', particularly a contempt for any form of collectivism (unions etc), yet there is an absolute trust in corporate integrity (for some reason) and of the reliability of a free market.
why the double standard?

Last night on the news they showed one of the fences being pushed down and then 1 moron getting to the other side only to be met by about 30 cops and a couple dogs. I though that was really funny.

And if these people don't like big corporations so much then they can try living without the products they provide. Until then they have no right to complain.

On a slight tangent, in the wake of the recent corporate collapses here and in the US, there is a more stringent focus on corporate responsibility and in particular, director's responsibilities (here and the US). More and more firms are turning to triple bottom line reporting and other non-financial reporting, which indicates to me that corporations are becoming more transparent, which results in greater accountability to the community and the environment
