P's in Wetherill Park (1 Viewer)

Im really nervous about my p's test next week .. its at wetherill park and i live in the bansktown area so i dont know the area very well .. Does anyone have any tips for me at this area? Any stories? Im just really nervous coz its a big industrial area and im used to local driving ...

Any discussions would be much appreciated

I live in Bankstown area as well and did my test in Campbelltown..... the main tip for doing it somewhere you dont know (although I did know c'town abit) is to get their alittle early and drive around abit to calm down and get to know the area.

And I wouldnt be nervous, if your doing it in auto in particular its prity easy, I stuffed up multiple times and still passed first go.... at the end of the day to keep your nerves down just tell yourself 'If you fail it doesnt matter, you can do it again, no big deal'.... or remember what the guy told me just before we got started 'Your not expected to drive like someone with years of experience, you've just gotta show you can handle driving by yourself'

orritey, i should be able to tell you a bit cos i live near wherethehell park, got my ps there and managed to fail the test twice. heh.

be careful with bus lanes. know the rules with dotted lines- know that if there's a bus lane in an intersection to the left of you, and you want to go left, you dont necessarily have the right to use the bus lane to do so. also, in the case where you dont get to use the bus lane to turn left, you have to turn into the outermost lane. i dont know why, but my friend failed because they didnt.

the first time, i failed because i didnt indicate when going around a car that was turning right on a single laned road. so not much to learn from that.

the second time i failed because i sped. the speed sign had been knocked over and i didnt see it, so just assume every road is 50. (after she told me to slow down i got so rattled that i couldnt parallel park. i was very pissed at myself)

they dont really take you through the industrial area, mostly they'll take you through residential parts of wetherill. and you cant really miss the bus lanes since they're red.

Is Bankstown booked out until next year again? Otherwise the Bankstown one isn't very hard (except if all easy parking spots at RTA are taken and you have to reverse angle park).

yeah i know a few people who did the test at banks, all of em passed first go.

that said, they all had driving instructors.

ok i did it in wethrill park, and passed first time. As schoolies said just drive around the area for a bit. be patient when going out of the rta and when you turn into the industrial area. watch out for crazy drivers around. becareful when turning near the Tway bus lanes.

Remember that speed limits are 50 in all resedential areas in that area and 70 on the horsley drive (although i went a few kays under that just to be sure). watch the traffic lights there should be quite a few on the route they take you, and they change quickly (most of the ones i went though were yellow).

Other than that, just hope you dont get "the fat bitch", everyone who has had her has failed at least once, all my friends failed with her, but i was lucky enough to not get her.

Go to liverpool to do your test. Easiest pass ever. My test went for like 10 minutes and we went on like 5 quiet little streets.

yea i did mine at livo i was on a main road for less than 100m in total lol

i did mine at lidcombe and it wasnt too bad
thats coz i did it during non-peak where there practically werent any cars on the road

I don't know the place you're doing the test but my tip is practice there as much as you can and try to take note of all the speed limits, potential blind spots/dangerous areas, etc...

Follow L platers that just leave the RTA whom are also being examined.. trust me, they wont notice you.. plus you get to know the routes that they go along, instead of aimlessly dawdling along.. don't be obvious though.. if you lose track of them, there's one departing every half hour..

The Horsley Drive isn't 70km/h all the way. It slows down to 60km/h once you pass McDonald's towards the RTA.

haha, oh man ... really, sif change.

i went out of my way to do the test a wetherill park because i heard it was super easy, and it was. i drove around there a couple of times beforehand and got the jist of it all ... it really reminded me of that 'C.A.R.E.S' place where we got taken in primary school to ride around on bikes and learn road rules, everything was so cliche`.

a ferret ran infront of my car when i was slowing down to reverse park and i still managed to pass haha i just started laughing, and so did the instructor guy.

anyway, wherever you end up going it shouldnt be that hard, just practice around the place like everyones been saying goodluck!

I have booked my test for next week and am apprehensive as I don't know the area well. Originally, I wanted to go to Fairfield but it is booked out for months and my L's are gonna expire soon so by then it might be too late. Liverpool and Ingleburn are also pretty much full.

So anyway, are there any additional tips from personal experience? People are saying that confidence is important when it comes to the driving test, and I would feel more confident if I knew more about specific driving routes and common mistakes. I am usually a nervous wreck when it comes to any kind of exam, so any help would be appreciated.

I have been around the area once and noticed there was a huge double roundabout, and the car park around the RTA itself was pretty busy when I was there

Finally, this is a lil embarrassing but when you get back to the RTA to the designated parking spaces for people taking their P's, the road has a double line but if you stay on the left it is too tight to park properly (or maybe my driving is just poor) so can I cross it and edge over a little to the right side so I have enough space to turn into the parking space? (of course when there isn't a car coming down the right side of the road). Does this require signaling even though I am not fully going over to the right side?
