Pipers is the only true psychedelic Floyd album, so just stick with that one. From Saucerful onwards they were more prog rock then anything else. Also, Barrett's solo work while fantastic, isn't exactly psychedelic, except for maybe Rats and No Good Trying.

Also, may I be the first to recommend Porcupine Tree's Up The Downstair? Best example of modern psych I've heard.

Also, Volta ftl.

For contemporary 60's/shoegaze influenced psychedelia

The Brian Jonestown Massacre
The Black Angels
The Tyde
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Should keep you busy for now
Shoegaze was an 80's invention no?

yeh it was. but there's a whole scene centered around the Brian Jonestown Massacre who have basically merged the two, followed by bands like BRMC. :)

Hey, I was wondering, are there a lot of real psych-folk, or freak-folk (there are so many names for it) bands in Australia, if any?
I'm from California where there's a lot, like Devendra Banhart, Vetiver etc.
Have you heard of them? I really want to find out if there are any in this country. Please tell me!
Thanks
