What are the properties that make PVC suitable for use in wire insulation and styrene suitable for use in tool handles, foam cups, foam boxes etc.?

I use CC and there is no info about this.

pvc: it is hard, (relatively to hdpe) chemically resistant, and resist corrosion, good insulator of electricity. because it does not haf free electrons to buzz around and conduct electricity. hence pvc is suitable for wire insulations. however pvc decomposes in the presense of uv. hence to make it suitable to be used outdoor, additives need to be added to make it uv resistant

styrene has a heavy side chain (benzene ring), hence it is VERY hard and rigid. therefore, it is a suitable for tool handles. foam cups is polystyrene pumped with gas making it light and easy to break
