I'm pretty excited for it, but I'm looking forward to F.E.A.R more than anything.

What? It's nearly out already!

Hot damn! Pity my computer won't run it, and it's the HSC.

It won't run that well, but chances are it's still gonna be playable of course. You'll just have to cut the res down alot, play it with minimal AA/AF and turn off some of the hardware features.

F.E.A.R is very cool indeed, if you've played the demo or watched the real-time 15min clip on Gamespot (320mb download) you'll notice how intense it feels to be in a F.E.A.R gunfight. Chunks are taken out of the wall, particles effects create exhilarating realism and a gunfight just feels like how it should. Definitely the first game I'm getting soon.

BTW nice to see chicks into good FPS. ;)

k well I got it q4 today.. on medium setting my gfx looked fkn awesome in comparrison to my bf who runs his on highest quality with a 64mb radeon mobility 9600 ( he's got a laptop.. sexy asus 1 ).. so I was fkn proud. But the thing that brought it down was.. LAG. My processor omg! On lowest settings gfx still look pretty good, doesnt lag... and my gfx still look better than his! Ah well it is gameplay thats important I guess.

... btw I love the game :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Well remember your FX5700 is getting old nowadays too, so if anything the inferior frames at higher graphical settings will be due to both your processor and your old video card. Gameplay is important.. but in my opinion for FPS graphics play an equally important part.. I mean part of a good FPS's fundamental goal is to immerse you, the player with realism and exhilaration and for that to happen there must be great gameplay and graphics.. which is why I guess I spend $3,000 every two years building new computers. Sigh, such an expensive hobby.

Nah JKDDragon, I touched rocket arena a few times, I never got the hang of it because of those bloody rail gunners.

Just to keep this on track, reckon my PC can handle it?

Ok here's my thoughts on the game:

1. It is very short, I finished it in 8 hours. A person new to the game may find its life expectancy to be around 15 hours at most.

2. Very polished single player, but it gets monotonous at times - kill monsters, meets locked door, go find switch to open door. Vehiclies are also pretty fun.
I think it had a lot more potential in the 2nd half of the game, when you turn into a strogg. The developers could of added so much more extra abilities, but all you get is the ability to read strogg, run a bit faster and use strogg medical stations.

3. Fairly straight forward, think all the good qualities of Doom 3, add in open terrain, fellow space marines and change the monsters to cyborgs to boot. Highly scripted though, very nice voice acting.

4. Its fairly easy, I thought many monsters will be uber bad ass, only a few are unfortunately. Bosses are very easy. I didn't die once against the last boss.

5. Your allies kick ass, think along the lines of marines from Halo and soldiers from Half-Life opposing force, but better, some can pack just as much punch as you do. Medics and engineers are invaluable, unlimited health and armour!

6. Nice weapon mods, like clip holder for the shotty or tracking nails for the nail gun (which is unstoppable). The rail gun however is a pee shooter, its not lie quake 2 where its a massive slug which kills enemies in one shot, it's like a streak of laster which takes 3-4 shots, even with the weapon upgrade. Hyperblaster is a bloody killing machine, almost instanteous hit, very fast firing rate and does heaps of damage,

That's all I can think off atm.

Most definitely no :p
I've got a P4 3.2ghz, 512RAM, ATI Radeon X600 laptop and it runs well on medium, 1024x768 with widescreen turned on. Not a bad game so far, I'm up to Air Defense Trenches.

Think I might go pick this up on Thursday, as well as F.E.A.R and maybe Battlefield 2 (finally) while I'm at it. If anything I need to stop my X800 just sitting there gathering dust.. what a waste!

FInished it on "General" difficulty, very hard but it can be done, make sure u hoard the dark matter gun ammo, rail gun is useless

Lots of tight spots, especially towards the end where u have to quick save after every few enemies,

3 scratches from iron maiden and your history

1-2 melee attacks from tank and your history

1 burst of hyper blaster and your history

1 grenade your dead

2-3 hits from berserker your history

1 rocket from those hovering bastards and your dead

Best let your invincble mates do the talking.

Not overwhelmingly hard, if u are a veteran of this genre and have finished plenty of fps on hardest difficult, 12-14 hrs
