Well its quite obvious what Beazley is trying to do. Beattie is all but assured of victory, so Beazley is attempting to pin the win on Federal IR issues. No doubt Beazley will hit the airwaves tomorrow remarking that the QLD result was due to Workchoices, which clearly it will not be.

Well its quite obvious what Beazley is trying to do. Beattie is all but assured of victory, so Beazley is attempting to pin the win on Federal IR issues. No doubt Beazley will hit the airwaves tomorrow remarking that the QLD result was due to Workchoices, which clearly it will not be.

If anything, it would be a more favourable indicator to the federal government in that it conveys that the electors are less likely to change their vote, even in the face of serious issues.

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie has clinched a fourth term in government with a third successive landslide state election victory.
With a third of the vote counted tonight, Labor looked set to maintain its tally of 60 seats in the 89-seat parliament.
Mr Beattie is the first Queensland Labor leader to win a fourth term as premier since William Forgan Smith in 1941.

well.. simply shows lack of leadership in australia.. srs we need some decent policies with rite leaders to promote them and lead by example.

to some extent john howard does this - he walk everyday in the morning how many mps do that? let alone pm in the world?.. it might small personal thing but the media are all over it glorifying it..

beazly is fat. beattie talks like true aussie bloke upfront and gives a then notion of fair dinkum.. but he was lucky cos the opposition were uptight asses..

Yeah, just talked to my friend from Queensland on MSN before and she wasn't at all suprised by the result. Beattie seems to be quite popular with people up there despite the problems their government has been having - quite charasmatic in a way perhaps?

But if he believes Beattie's win was significantly influenced by WorkChoices he is deluding himself.
