so would that mean i get nothing eventhough i did working out?? especially for da superannuation total in second aprt of question. As far as I can see, I haven't made the question any easier. As I understand it, as long as you show you know what you're doing, and you don't make the question easier, you should still get full marks, right? Instead of n=300 i had n=25 and under the pressure of an exam situation stupid me didint pick it up..

i should be n-1=299 because she makes the investment at the start of the year, but obtains the money at the end of the 300 years

Exactly, so if she invests at the start of each year and collects it at the end of 300 years isn't n = 300?

For part one it was a Tn = ar^n-1, making a = $3**.** something forgot now

Second bit requird to use formula Sn = a(r^n-1)/(r-1) and it came to fifty thousand something.

lol no offense but your still getting mixed up - 300 YEARS? Damn she would be very old if she is still putting money in.

they said that she invested 300 months and invested on the 300th month so i dont think it is n-1=299.
mithch you will have your error carried forward so you will only lose the mark for putting 25 in not 300. they will see whether the rest of the working is right as to whether you lose anymore. i did the same in the trials and only lost one mark.

Yeh it was dead set compound for the first part
and i think the second part was n=300 because she pays a tthe beginning, and so the total at the end would have been 300. did anyone else get 55 7** something, i dont remember exactly..

c)i) A = 80(1 + 0.005)^300
= $357.20
ii)A300 = 80(1.005)^300 + 80(1.005)^299 + ....
= 80[1.005(1.005^300 - 1)]/(1.005-1)
= $55716.71
