Really? Is that like a special branch of islam or something? (excuse my ignorance) cos i'm currently in dubai (which is in an islamic country), and there are alot of very rich people here, most of whom keep their money in banks, and earn interest on it (according to my dad, who works here and knows many of these people).

And depending on how strictly a person follows my religion (aka depending on IF you follow my religion) we are not allowed to take loans off banks
OR recieve interest by keeping money in a bank.

Its not a special branch of islam, as far as i know, all scholars agree that interest is not allowed.

Yes, the rich who take interest from banks are not following religion. Or maybe in Dubai the Arab scholars have given a different fatwa (islamic jurispudence ruling). I doubt it though.

Interest, in Islam, IS NOT ALLOWED. Simple. :)

darn, are you sure? Cause health insurance is out, superannuation is out, interest rate involved is out, pretty much any jobs in the financial sector are out.

Are there jobs outside the financial sector for actuaries? :(
