Question about nuts and bolts (1 Viewer)

didn't really know where else to ask, so:
What's bigger:
3/8-18
or
5/16 - 18
in terms of nuts.

answer still the same? what does each thing mean?

No difference, still the 3/8. The first number's the diameter of the nut in inches, and the second is threads per inch.

and with bolts:
5/6-18 X 2 1/2"
X 2 1/4"

So to tell the difference, I'd measure them from the very top to the very bottom? or just the ribbed part?
