hey, i have a question:

in what form are lipids carried in blood? is it as glycerol and fatty acids suspended in plasma, or as chylomicrons - or are these two the same?!

Lipids are carried with phospholids and cholesterol in protein coated packages
called chylomicrons, I think these are then carried along the lymph system.

Triglycerides, cholesterol, phospholipids and apoprotein B are initially carried in chylomicrons through the lymphatic system (and blood after emptying into the circulating venous blood at the juncture of the subclavian and jugular veins) after digestion.

These end up in the liver, where VLDL is synthesised and released into the blood. VLDL contains cholesteryl esters and triglycerides in their core and has a membrane containing phospholipids and cholesterol.

OMG are you in my bio class? We discussed EXACTLY the same thing in class today.

Our teacher says it's glycerol and fatty acids.
