• Interdependence with other key business functions

I'm just having trouble with explaining the relationship between operations and the other three key functions (marketing, finance and human resources). I have something written in my notes, but its not making sense to me.

Can someone please explain the interdependence with operations and other key business functions?

Interdependence refers to the mutual dependence that the four key business functions have with respect to each other in this case.
Operations is interdependent with the other key business functions as the amount of outputs produced is dependant on the amount of human resources of the business, and the amount of human resources is an effect to finance for labour costs. In reference to marketing, if a new product is advertised, there may be an increase in operations or decrease on an existing product due to a minimal awareness by consumers. This would ultimately reduce the amount of finance within the business (sales, profit) and could possibly result in redundancies.

By the above statement, it illustrates and reinforces the interdependence of the key business functions, as they act in a form of synergy when they work together. They are the most efficient, when they work collaboratively with respect to each other.

Hope it satisfies your requirements.
