One trend is the growth in economic integration, enabling Nestle to operate on a global scale through trade agreements and also global organisations such as the WTO.

Another is the rapid economic growth in the Asian/ middle eastern region. This trend has resulted in growing demand for goods which if a country cannot produce domestically will import. Thus enabling firms like Nestle to expand into overseas markets.
