Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me around about how many songs a 256 MB MP3 player would hold? I can't seem to find a definate answer - everyone tells me something different!

Well that would depend on how long your songs were and their bitrate.

Ok, so if most songs are around 3 or 4 minutes in length, how many do you think that would be?

Well, what's the length of a song? You have to take into account the length of the mp3 and it's bitrate. I guess an average 128kbit/s mp3 would be aroung 4MB. You'd be better off working out how many minutes it can hold.

128kbit/s = 16kbytes/s
192kbit/s = 24kbytes/s

256MB = 262144kbytes

262144 / 16 = 16384 seconds @ 128kbit/s
~ 270 minutes
