I enrolled in math1241 for next semester and the prerequisite is a credit in math1131 - what will happen if I don't get a credit?

oh also I read on bos that biom1010 is a shit subject, but those posts were from 2006 when it was still a new course, is it still shit? I picked it as my gen ed course since i'm wanting to major in biotech and it's kinda related

alsooo when do they list the textbooks/course notes needed for semester 2 subjects on the bookshop website?

You will be forced to change to MATH1231 if you don't meet the academic requirements. In fact, you will be automatically dropped from the course when uni starts, but you will need to enrol yourself into MATH1231 - it won't be automatic.

The textlists will be on the Bookshop website more closer to when uni starts again. It's around the time when course outlines are released ~ O-Week.

thank you :') i'm just really behind in everything, but i am trying my hardest to catch up. i havent done the last few chapters of calculus and algebra so im only reading through them and then i'll go straight to the past papers instead of doing all the tute problems, will that be most time effective? and does anyone have any advice

If MATH1231 is a core subject for your program, then the School of Mathematics will enrol you despite being full.

I don't understand why you are talking about MATH1041? What degree/program are you undertaking?

Then just do math1041, that's considerably much easier than 1131 and 1231/1241, and it sounds like you're falling behind. So to make it easier on yourself, just do 1041.

ok I did it ^_^ I thought it would screw up my timetable but it actually gave me 2 less hours at uni yay. that puts a lot of pressure off. i'm gonna be doing a lot of walking to mathews though :c i guess if i get a credit i'll try and change it back but just to be safe i'll keep it like this

Very well then, just be absolutely certain you won't require MATH1231/1241 in later years.

Can some lecture slots and tutorial spots in MATH1231 be over enrolled by a few people like 1 or 2? Just wondering because I'm planning on changing from MATH1041 to MATH1231 for sem 2

It can, but you will have to contact the School of Maths in order to enrol. For tutorials, you will be asked to enrol in the available time slots, even if it gives you a crap timetable, unless your have a strong reason to enrol in a full tutorial. If they are all full, or the available classes clash with your existing timetable then you will most likely be given you're preference. Also, it would be better if MATH1231 is a core.
