let z=a+bi where a^2+b^2 is not equal to 0
show that Im(z)is greater than 0 and (Im(1/2))is less than zero how do u do that?

i think your question is broken partner

i could set a = 2 and b = 0, and a<sup>2</sup> + b<sup>2</sup> would be greater than 0

in fact your given information:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

let z=a+bi where a^2+b^2 is not equal to 0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

all that information specifies is that you have some arbitrary complex number such that it has some sort of positive modulus (which is true even if you don't specifiy it to be so unless you have some point on the origin)
