Sketch the locus of z satifying:

Im(z)= |z|

I have gone:

y= [(sqrt)(x^2 + y^2)]

but i do not this is correct as u end up with x=0

That'd be correct, cause the only time when the imaginary component of a complex number is completely equal to its modulus is when the number is purely imaginary i.e when it sits on the y-axis where x=0.

Your algebraic reasoning is still correct. Just square both sides and you get the result.
