are we meant to distinguish the information that is contained in the footnotes of our essay in some way?

e.g.

1. Asquith, A. (1976), Marie Antoinette, Taplinger Publishing Company, New York, p. 16
2. Ibid., p. 16
3. The negotiations of the marriage lasted three years, with the marriage taking place on 16 May 1770.

Are 1. and 2. meant to be grouped together, while 3. is grouped separately?

i hope i make sense, but i'm quite confused and also because it looks incredibly out of place.

that night i ended up changing my mind about how i did the footnotes. instead, i made the references to sources/ideas into footnotes, and little facts/tidbits into endnotes. i made sure to not confuse the teacher, by making the endnotes symbols into the ones that begin with "*", while the footnotes were numbers.. hopefully she doesn't get confused!

e.g.

Their dislike towards the foreign princess is supported by a myriad of evidence, such as the caricatures, gazettes, libelles
[*]
and pornographic pamphlets, which invaded France.

[*]
A libelle is a type of book or pamphlet which acts as a form of defamation towards a well-known person.

oh man! i hope that was actually the right thing to do!

what does your project have to do with marie antoinette?

XD! I got a similar footnote:
[9]A libelle is a political pamphlet or book which slanders a public figure.

My historical topic is about how marie antoinette's historiography has been approached when concerning her role as a figurehead of french social change!
