i know what the quote button does but what does the quick quote check box do exactly

Rather than clicking the quote button at the bottom, ticking quick quote in anybody posts allows you to quote their post in the Quick Post Reply box.

yea, but u wont be able to do other fancy things on it will u? like smilies and stuff, unless u memorise it. eg.

But you could always click smilies in the lower left and it pops-up a new window.
