Okay, I had like...a random thought...
Let's say you have Lead (II) nitrate [Pb(NO3)2], right? If you add it to water, why doesn't Pb(OH)2 (insoluble) form as a precipitate due to the self-ionisation of water since there would be OH- and H3O+ ions floating around?
Is it because there is such a tiny amount of OH- that it's negligible?
