say you come first in a subject, and during the external exam...a person gets the highest mark which will go to the person who came first....say that mark is 85 and your assessment mark is 95....will you receive this mark as your assessment mark? and hence will you be scaled down?.
I know someone who got ranked first. Assesment mark 93. Got 81 in the exam. The board of studies gave him a mark of 86 as his HSC mark. Yeah, okay, he got 5 extra marks. He stuffed up everyone else though. People who beat him all got pulled down one or two marks because their ranks were lower.

how does it work when the highest mark achieved in the grade is LOWER than the internal assessment mark obtained by the person ranked 1st.
Okay so we're looking at if a person gets 98. But the highest internal assesment is 96 right? ... You should know that the BOS ALWAYS modifies your assesment mark. You're rank however doesn't change. The person ranked first will probably be given an assesment of 98/99. The person who got 98, say he originally was ranked 3rd, will be given a assesment modified mark of 96. In that way, the person ranked first gets pulled up. The person who got ranked 3rd gets pulled down. (lol, read my maths example of me on page 2)
