Hi all,

First time poster here.
Just wondering if I can hear some peoples opinions on how school ranking affects the ATAR score as I'd been given
conflicting information from what I heard at a seminar held by matrix and the info from board of studies at the recent hsc expo.

Matrix advised that the school rankings are very important as it will affect how the hsc score is moderated whereas BOS said it doesn't and was told to stay away from matrix and in her words "evil" :confused2:

Our daugther is currently in yr11 at a selective school. Her half yearly marks are ok ranging from ranking of 3 for english adv to chemistry where shes ranked 101/140 :(.
The marks are so close between the students that one mark difference equates to a ranking of 20 places.

Well the top two thirds of a selective school manage to do well as the combined effort of school ranking and their own intellect help them get the marks they are capable. but that last third, which are still very smart as they are attending a selective school get stuffed by the system
