RAW MARK - for 85 in eng. adv.??05' (1 Viewer)

Given the easy nature of the papers as many ppl thought (not me), wat raw mark approx. u guys reckon would be enough for 85 as the final hsc mark??

like 77/105 or higher or lower??

errr... I think he/she meant like the mark you get on the certificate, like band 5 band 6 etc.. But.. I would have no clue, who cares about the raw mark? They have like different standards of marking in the hsc compared to schools.

77/105 is like 73/100 not 85...

85/100 is like 88/105


anyways... I reckon 85 is maybe right.. We got about a 70 average for our trial... So yeh..

Yeh but like you can see in past years how they went in trials compared to hsc... so like you can ASSUME and make an ass out of everyone.. loadsa fun

I think it'd be a little difficult to determine the RAW mark for english (especially english), but i would think that generally the RAW marks would usually get aligned to something similar each year...I don't think this years was 'easier' than any other year, personally i dont see much difference in the difficulty of english examinations from yr to yr, i've looked at papers from 2001- 04, if anything i think the questions this yr were slightly more challenging, the key word being 'slightly'.

English is one of the subjects were we'd actually need someone to obtain their RAW marks under the FOI act in order to see what the RAW mark for an 85 would be, but if an estimate is what ur looking for I'd say a 75% would get aligned to an 85% (judging from RAW marks obtained previously).. so about 79/105 would get close to an 85%(remember this is just a general estimate).. could be higher could be lower, but at this stage no one knows!

The hsc marks given by sam are based on the procedures outlined on the page http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc/hsc_update_2002_06.html - the borderline for b5 and b6 changes each year as judges will find the descriminant between the,, so the raw mark you could be getting as someone said would be about 80ish but dont forget that they moderate your assesement and hsc mark in accordance to not only your overall performance, the standard of the state but also your rank, if your first your chances of getting a makr closer or even higher than your 85 mark - but agiain this is all un-official hsc info, but markers and other ppl involved generally state these ideas.
