I'm just wondering what happens if I found out that I've made a mistake or misread the question and need to re-do the question from scratch, where would I place the new solution at? And how would the examiners know?

umm I would've figured that out already...

What I means is when I finish an entire question, and found I've mis-read part b) ii) but already I've wrote the solution to part c) below, where would I place the new solution of part b) ii) if my booklets are filled.

Okay...

So I start a new booklet and how would I specify to the markers that I want them to see that booklet and not this booklet's solution? I don't want to have to write an essay explaining to them how I did it wrong and giving them directions on where to find the correct solution, I just don't have the time.

EDIT: are there any teachers who marked the hsc before, can you shed some light for me?

oi m8 i think the best thing u cud do is call the advice line 131112 and ask for a maths teacehr/hsc maths marker...that's ur best way to find out....i mite call em 2morrow and check it out as well...but my guess is that u do wot slide rule sed, do it in a new book and put a line thru ur mistaked...and then clearly indicate to the marker that the solution is in an attached booklet...the markers read evrything

cross it out with ONE line and ONE line only
because if you got the correct answer in the cross out part, technically you still got it right and who ever marks it should give you the marks

if you totally scrub it out, then bad luck

also you can write on the left page, the blank unlined pages....some working out or checking
thinking areas, markers are also required to check that page as well if there are things written on it

Also note that markers WANT to give you marks if they can, They won't go, "well, (s)he didn't put a full stop here, 0", they will be kind, they WILL read directions, stop stressing.
