A student throws a ball off a cliff with a speed of 30ms-1 at an angle of 30 degrees. The ball took 5s to land at the bottom of the cliff.

(a) Determine the vertical component of the velocity

Uy = 30sin30 = 15ms-1

(b) Determine the height of the cliff.

- y = uyt + 1/2 ayt^2

= 15(5) + 1/2(-9.8)(5)^2
= 47.5m.

(c) Determine the range of the projectile.

- x = Uxt = 15ROOT3 x 5 = 75ROOT3?

Littlehelp? Correct me if i'm wrong. Thank you.

I think your working out is perfectly fine:) Just make sure you express your answers in a consistent format, i.e. all in decimals rather than one in exact value, another in decimal, and include appropriate units and number of significant figures in your answers.
