I thought it was time to step into this millennium and get rid of my black and green screen monstrosity

I pretty much want a phone with good features, as I rarely use them for calling/texting. I also don't want this to be costing more than $30 a month.

I was thinking either the Motorola Z3 RIZR or Nokia 6288. Opinions?

Also whats the deal with the whole browsing/3G thing? Do you get charged by how much you download or how long your on there? Is there any difference between 3G phones and older ones besides speed and useless crap like video calls? All I want to be able to do is browse the net...can I do this on the RIZR seeing as how its not 3G?

Thanks for any help :santa:

expandable minisd card slot
music player
voice recorder
video player.

generally
moto phones are all substance no style
sony ericsson has style, substance, but not so user friendly
LG iono
samsung is okay, buh all sliders look the same -.-

nokia is best, is solid, simple, very user friendly- moddable for both beginners and advanced users

So can you still go on the web with non-3G phones? If so, can you visit any page, and if so how long does it take to load?

And what provider offers the best deal for a low call/messager and high internet user?

I'm with Vodafone and I'm happy with their deals concerning the net and calls.

Same problem here, looking at stuff i can get on a VIRGIN $30 cap with no more then $4 excess, choices are:

NOKIA
-6300 - features, slim and sexy, cheap - feel ripped off
-6288 - features, 3G but CHUNKY
MOTOROLA
-K1 KRZR - sexy BUT motorola software??
-Z3 RIZR - sexy and 3G BUT motorola software??
SE
-W810i - features, reputation BUT old model
SAMSUNG
-D900i - new ('i' model only came out this month), features BUT no real user reviews on it yet

I am however traditionally a nokia person, and would really like the E65, but i cant afford it. lol any advice ppls?

technically yes, but its REALLY slow. if you want proper web browsing on a phone you need a 3g capable phone with a decent screen. i had an n73 and it was excellent for web browsing. if you get a phone with a shitty low resolution or small screen it will just look rubbish.

EDIT: idk where you'd usually be using the net on your phone but if its near a wireless hotspot you could get a wi-fi enabled phone like the nokia e65 and save on mobile internet costs, plus it'd probably be faster

as for the best deal thing, you can enquire about the mobile internet packages and stuff that most service providers offer, but it'd be just as easy to go on a say, 49 or 79 dollar cap with vodafone. voda charges $1 for every 5min block of interwebs used
