I am in need of some fresh tunes..... I like listening to basically anything, but these are the bands that I really like:

-Missy Higgins
-Silverchair
-Tori Amos
-Jet
-Eskimo Joe
-Maroon 5 are ok

Can you guys recommend some stuff that maybe isn't so mainstream but would go with my tastes.... preferably Aussie stuff too.....

umm..i'm not so great at this..but i like all you've mentioned there except for tori amos and maroon 5..

maybe try george and sia..they're both aussie and are pretty awesome..i'm listening to little birdy at the moment and they're aussie..but it depends whether you can deal with katie's voice lol..ooh..and sarah blasko is also good..and aussie too lol

umm..if you like silverchair you might also like the dissociatives which is paul mac and daniel johns..they're alright..

If you like Jet, look out for a cool Aussie band called Wolfmother: http://www.wolfmother.com/ They played Homebake and will be at BDO this year. They have an EP available on their website, worth a look at, And aside from that, seeing as Jet is heavily influenced by 70s rockers like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, maybe look at some of their stuff too.

"The Dark Side of the Moon" album, by Pink Floyd is essential listening for all fans of music, no matter what your tastes. Also look for "Grace" by Jeff Buckley, which fits into this category.
