Since so much of the course centers on the 'wider reading' bit, what related texts did you end up using for the exam?

Mine were -

'Being John Malkovich' film

'To Hell On a Skateboard' article in The Age 'Good Weekend' Saturday 2nd October

'Hello De Milo' - a piece of art created to commemorate Hello Kitty's 30th birthday, featuring the Venus De Milo with the head of Hello Kitty

'The Language Of Postmodern Architecture' - quotations from Charles Jencks

'Postmodernism and Consumer Society' - quotations from Frederic Jameson

Oh my god you put a lot in there! Mine were...
'Sexing the Cherry' by Jeanette Winterson
'Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo' (all male dance troupe)
'Metafiction as Counterfeit Money' by Derrida

I also threw in a few random references to Foucault and Simpsons and stuff....nothing in depth though.

I love that episode! and into the woods is cool as well. I used this trilogy of short stories written all in postcards called Griffin and Sabine, and the play The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)-all 37 plays in 97 minutes. If you ever get to see that, do! I've never laughed so hard for 97 minutes nonstop

"The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde

"Dead Doll Humility" by Kathy Acker

And I'd prepared to do Kill Bill, but decided to do the other two in more detail rather than briefly mention three, seeing as it didn't specify number of texts.

postmodern foot prints

  • marketability
    challenge of construction
    pastiche
    parody
    satire
    humour
    intertextuality
    eclecticism
    self-reflectivity

I would have used it for imaginative journey, yet I saw closer links with Watanabe's Kid's Story and Cervantes Don Quixote.
