Question 21 "For what purpose do you pray for?" should be "For what purpose do you pray?" or and only or "What purpose do you pray for?" (I prefer the former). In fact, both of these are verbose: it should be "Why do you pray?"

Aside from that:

Thank you so much guys! Keep it coming. Some questions to be answered:

rites-of-passage
It's like a ceremony for each stage of life, for example (and correct me if I'm wrong) in Christianity, when you are born, they do the christening which is birth. In Judaism, when the boy/girl turns I think 13, they hold a Bar/Bat Mitzvah to signify the step into adolescence (and they have to know a certain part of the Torah off by heart and recite it during the ceremony)

online survey
Yes, that would've have been easier except the problem is I won't know who wrote what answers and with some people I need to further interview them for more information.

How/How does it not?

Wearing the scarf in its self doesn't say who i am... off course by wearing it people know that i am a muslim, and im proud of it, but what makes me and what makes people able to identify with me is plain me...the inner me.

8) Do you feel secure with your religious/belief identity in contrast to today’s contemporary society?

Yes

Why/Why not?

I hear stories and incidents that may occur with people in Australia for instance in wearing the head scarf some of those who are rascist may throw comments such as "tea towel". However, i know i live in a multicultural society, i personally haven't experienced this, but i also know those who are rascist are a very small minority in Australia, and i know those kinds of people do not represent the true modern Australian.

Yes

How/How does it not?
I don't think its the only thing, or even the primary thing, that provides my sense of identity. But obviously religion is going to play a part in shaping identity, since it shapes so much of my behaviour.

11) Has this helped you form your religious/belief identity today?

No

Why/Why not?
My mother first started practising Buddhism when I was twelve, but I wasn't interested until I was about sixteen. I like to joke that first I rebelled against my parents by attending a Christian church for a year. While we visit temples occasionally (the nearest one is several hours drive away- we usually only go to the temple when we're overseas) I don't think these visits impact on me very much. I think contact with individuals, rather than organized services, has impacted me the most.

12) Do you feel your religious/belief identity clashes with: (Please choose all that apply)

No

How/How does it not?

I believe that religious beliefs are a personal thing, and are nobody's business but mine. Keeping this in mind has helped to avoid most conflicts.

13) Has your religious/belief identity help you prevent harmful substances and certain food restrictions? (for example, alcohol and pork)

Yes

How does this help/not help you form your identity?
As a Buddhist, I undertake to avoid mind altering substances. This means that I don't drink, at all, ever. This set me on a slightly different path to that of my friends, since I have to find other ways to have fun and can't attend parties where the only activity is getting smashed. I don't really reflect much on how my diet impacts my identity. I don't eat meat (Buddhism doesn't actually require vegetarianism, but I eventually came to the conclusion that it isn't right for me to eat meat when Australia's society and economy offers viable alternatives), but I don't feel I fit the stereotype of pushy vegetarian.

14) Do you believe God(s) exists?

No - Please go onto question 17

17) Do you pray?

No

18) Why do you think it is not necessary to pray?

The particular branch of Buddhism I follow doesn't recognise the Buddha as a deity- this practice is mostly restricted to smaller branches in areas like Japan.

* Note- perhaps you could add meditation as an alternative to prayer? They serve very similar purposes, but aren't exactly the same.

Please go to question 22

22) Do you carry out rites-of-passage?
