Sounds reasonable. I'm up to talking about part IVA which shouldn't take too long.

Do you know if we submit it in two booklets or one?

they were already working there. but for the purpose of being able to rattle off more words i made an assumption that the negotiations were to form a new contract of employment for his new position.

Intellectual property, ethics and Business Organisations.

Taxation was quite difficult for me, HEAPS of readings gets very technical. But Malcolm Voyce the lecturer/tutor is a very nice man... the course is a bit unstructured though. Only pick it if you really want to get into taxation. =/

Wow, so glad I only had remedies and health law to do - those other units sound too technical for my liking. I finish tomorrow with statistics - woot!! ;)

I was doing IP, but I've changed to summer school (trying to juggle law with psych hons units).

So, I'm doing ethics, dispute resolution, war law and bus org.

^ Oooh neat I do psych too (but not honours... I would have no idea what to do as my thesis). Are you doing your thesis this year or next?

Damn, juggling hons psych and law sounds quite scary. O_O

A good start. i'm so not getting that job...

Oooh good luck I hope you get the job!

I've been working as an (unpaid! :() intern at a small law firm at Ashfield for a while now. The experience has been heaps good, got to draft lots of legal documents, attend court, but now I want another job that actually pays! :p

Nice choice. Dispute was pretty cool for the 4 weeks I took it last year. I've picked it up again (and will be sticking with it) for my final subject of uni!

Get yourself sorted with a kick-arse resume and cover letter template and send speculative letters offering your services. There are more small firms around then people think. Use the NSW Law Society Website if you need help searching.

Try and use contacts as well... I got my first law job through a former macq grad who judged me in comps. That only lasted a short while, but it gave me the experience to apply for other jobs. There is also the legal centres... they're usually quite popular, but there's no harm putting your name down now.

I've heard fantastic things about Dispute Resolution... Aparently you get to act out Hearings in tutorials?!

Scarecrow, I love the "slutty and evil" - gold! :D

I used to work in the legal field... I worked in Immigration for a year, and then family law for a year... Resigned in March. It was great experience, if not purely for the fact that I now know I dont want to practise law (thats why I'm doing psych units for honours). I used to love the idea of family law, but once you work in the area it sucks.

You can always volunteer at CLC's as well. Looks great on your resume. Or apply to do that Practising in the Public Interest unit. Two of my friends are doing it this year; you work during the semester break (unpaid) and have to write a diary and essay during the semester...
