Alot of people that repeat were just lazy, they probably won't change their lazy ways too much..
If i repeated it would be different because i did have several serious things happen that made me simply give up on school.

I've decided against repeating, i'm going for newcastle or une if i don't get into newcastle... it's good enough for me.

thats really an insulting thing to say. Many people got below that. its pretty selfish. You can get into many uni courses with that, or are u scared to sink low and go to a less prestigious uni...all i can say is with that attitude u deserve what u get.harsh but true
I was being srcastic when I said 86 is a lame ass mark.

for me, 86 would be a damn lame-ass uai. sorry, but it's a personal thing for everyone. some people might be ectastic over it, but that's one person's standards and doesn't reflect on my personal goals at all. i'd be devastated if i got 86, and maybe you should fuck off with the 'oh, you're so selfish' thing. just because you're dumb as a post.

Well, everyone has their own personal goals.....Someone could have their sights set on 99+, work day in day out, avoid human contact, and end up with 95, and I think they have every right to be heartbroken. I was upset with my 94.85 in the end, as I missed out on the course I wanted to do by .15 of a mark( though it was my own fault for being lazy)

No, it would be dissapointing, as it was for me, but it's not lame, it's still decent and kicks the majority of people's ass, just a personal dissapointement though.

no, i'm sorry, based on my own personal goals, abilities etc, 86 = completely lame.
but on another note, to your average ruse student, anything below 98 or 99 prolly = completely lame (FOR THEM) and considering thats a complete dream for most people, well, it's all relative.
not trying to offend anyone, just being honest - i have very high standards for myself :)

My UAI was an interesting one. I got 90+ in 3 subjects and 88 in another (extensions, sciences, economics etc) then got landed with an 80 in drama and a 34 in 4u english that dumped me into the low 90's. I was tempted for a while to just repeat those two subs (I'd imagine a reasonable improvement in both would bring me up about 4 UAI points) but I realised that repeating is just treading water, and I'm much better off trying to transfer.

BTW, not that bright, I'm low 90's with EAS, and atm its EXTREMELY doubtful that I'll get ANU, you need to be at least 5 below the cutoff to have a shot, so no you won't get in that way, sorry :(

Yea i was quite sure i wouldn't lol
I'm going for newcastle, they're 91 & next year offering fees. i got 86 so hopefully if i get like 1 point from EAS i can get thru into fee paying since that drops it like 5 points.

Can you still apply for EAS? I could think of a number of things that could help me out.
Just a few months late, even for late direct applications (they closed at the end of november).

That wasn't what I was getting at though, 86 is not a lame mark. It will never be considered to be a lame mark by society, you are the top 20% (or whatever). I agree it can be a personal dissapointment, personal failure ect, but you can't call the mark itself lame.
