What happens if you want to repeat a subject to get a better grade to increase your gpa? what does it do to your subject list and units done?

i'm 99% sure you can't. Once you've done a subject you've done it. They don't even let you do 2 units that are 'similar' so i don't see why they'd let you do one again just because you want a better mark...

How will the implementation of Course and Unit rules affect you?

1. you will no longer be able to enrol in a unit without meeting
all of its requirements. This means that if you do not meet all of the
Pre-requisites, Co-requisites, Special Requirements or have already
completed the unit
or an equivalent unit you will be unable to enrol in
the unit.

2. rule checks will be run prior to and up to the census date of
each teaching session to ensure that you are able to remain enrolled in
that unit.
3. units that do not meet the rule checks after you have enrolled
(e.g. fail grade on a pre-requisite unit) will have a status
of ‘INVALID’. This means that you are no longer enrolled in the unit.

That's fomr an email all uws students shuold have gotten/get via studentmail :)

No matter how many times you repeat a unit, each attempt will be on your academic record. E.g:

1st Attempt: Unit A - Fail
2nd Attempt: Unit A - Pass
3rd Attempt: Unit A - High Distinction

(in the above, all three will appear on the transcript from what I have been told).

As LaraB points out, the new rules system means if you have passed a unit you cannot re-take it.
