Hi guys, I know this has been asked before but the answers I'm getting are varying and so I'm a bit confused.

How is a state rank calculated?

I've seen people saying that they use your internals for all the state ranks, but the BOSTES website says that this is ONLY done IF two people are tied on a score. Which one is true?

If I'm 2nd or 3rd in a course is a state rank still possible hypothetically if I don't tie with someone?

I think you have to be ranked 1st internally to get a state rank ... but I’m not sure

NESA mentions nothing about any requirement of being 1st internally, and other forums didn't mention that either. They're saying your moderated internal mark is always counted towards your state rank, but NESA says otherwise

Pretty sure you can state rank even if you're not 1st. I think someone on this forum state ranked despite internally ranking 8th or something? (this was quite a few years back though)

This question doesn't make sense. A rank is not calculated. It's simply an order. You do better than someone else, your rank is higher. You do better than everyone in the state, you come first. At no point is it being calculated.

Your final HSC mark is the mark that is used to determine your rank in the state.

For the people who come first in the whole state, is there raw mark literally 100?

Thanks for the replies

First in state is usually a 97/98 RAW most most subjects, although I remember some genius guy in 1993 got 100 RAW in 4u maths(only one to do it so far)
