The problem is that it will make it easier for america to go to war.. like at the moment around the world (china and other oppressive countries excluded), it's very hard to go to war because you have to face public opinion.. that's the way i think it should be.
Mate, all they have to do is sell some chemical weapons to whatever country they want to invade, then say they have weapons of mass destruction and there is your reason to 'save the world'. Exactly what happened to Iraq.

it probably isnt reliable?

All its optics equipment — the four cameras, night vision and zoom lenses — were already in the Army's inventory.

Its developers say the SWORDS not only allows its operators to fire at enemies without exposing themselves to return fire, but also can make them more accurate.

A typical soldier who could hit a target the size of a basketball from 300 meters away could hit a target the size of a nickel with the SWORDS, according Quinn

"It eliminates the majority of shooting errors you would have," said Tordillos

ive already known about this kind of high tech war stuff for a long time already,
if the americans want robots in wars, or have their soldiers use more electronic gadgets, then let them. ;)

does it matter whether they do or not?

but john, think of the 250ms LAGGGGG...

well at least you can't take out the SWORDS with one headshot... then agin, all these terrorist-types must have light anti-tank missiles... plus, a 4-mile an hour SWORD is kinda slow at matrix-dodging missiles... can't bunny-hop, can't run, can't evade... kinda like a sitting duck against a human, even if it has a machine gun.
i guess the lag would be annoying, mabye they will implement a lag into america's army to train them.

as for the rockects, i reckon the sniper robots would have considerably more range.

If america were to make war against the whole world it would've still won easily without those robots.
The american president has a more powerful role compared to other presidents of other countries. He/she can lead a war without public approval for a period of time. Enough time to pulverise a nation.
They have ICBMs (probably even nuclear) and the largest navy in the world to sink earth twice!!

Honestly, just create an army of Mechwarriors and put them in control of a PS2/XBox network gamers, it'd be one hell of an army plus people would finally shut up about how good CS is.

No. America couldn't take on the whole world. It would have a hard enough time invading Australia. Using nuclear weapons wouldn't work, MAD would get them, the Russians still have enough for that. Their conventional forces aren't powerful enough to invade everywhere.

Not-that-bright, Alexander the Great conquered 90% of the known world......

Mechwarriors are kind of cool.... though highly impractical.

Yeah, but the coolness factor outweighs the practical side of it no end... bring on the Mechwarriors.

oh yeah, the us army are also working on exoskeletons for humans. which is kinda like a mech warrior.
i know
did u read about that on "howstuffworks"?

this robot stuff isnt new

predator drones have already been in use for somme time
and

check this out, i watched a documentary on US research in military tech
and they gotz gunz with cameras built in and the output is in the goggles that the marine is supposed to wear.

it helps them "shoot around corners" and in tight spots and obviously, in the dark too,, and believe it or not, the view finder can zoom in too!

amazing! :)

My point is that of the world he knew about he pretty much conquered it all (and tried for more but his army wouldn't keep going)... a pretty impressive feat considering his army had to march not drive/fly/sail etc.
