I am so confused. I'm trying to understand the labour movement.
THAT IS > laboUr..
As far as I'm concerned, there was no Labor movement. Or was there?
See, nobody seems to spell correctly, and people aren't making sense when they explain the labour movement to me, and they're confusing terms n concepts..
Can somebody please help me, im having a total HSC breakdown
  • What was/is the labour movement?
  • What is the ROLE of religions concerning the labour movement?
Please help me or ill never finish these frikken summaries.

The Labour movement= the unions etc
LaboUr= to work
The Labor Party is the political organisation that came out of the LaboUr Movement.
Split due to Communism and the DLP was formed (which is now known as the Democrats Party)

There was no Labor Movement, only the Labor Party which grew out of the LaboUr Movement

Involvement of religion essentially revolves around the Christian Church
Catholic= supporters of the LaboUr Movement. Became supporters of the Labor Party which grew out of the emerging union movement (to do with Catholics being traditionally low paid workers/migrant workers)

Fear of communism infiltrating union movements meant that the Catholic Church (through its traditional links with the unions via common membership) became suspicious of communism (also to do with where most Catholic migrants escaped from) led to the formation of teh "Movement" by BA Santamaria (who also formed the Groupers) who were anti- communist.

Led to a split in the ALP to form the DLP...it failed and he Democrat Party was formed

Look up Santamaria and the history surrounding his work (both on th eboard and on the net)...you will get heaps

Also try the resources section for SOR notes
