can anybody please help me on the safety precautions of a volumetric annalysis.

*after taking a full 30 seconds to realise that the volumetric analysis in question is a titration*

hazards are minimal - usually the acids and bases used are pretty dilute. but they're still acids - so take care not to spill/splash into eyes etc.

never suck the solution using a pipette to pur it into the conical flask, use one of them air suckers thingy.

Basically dont drink the solution (although it is probably less acidic then coke), dont pour it on someone etc. Just the common ones, ie dont drink chemicals.

so if in an exam the question said outline a procedure for a titration. for the safety aspect i wouldn't really mention much at all.

Well you would mention things like safety glasses may be worn to avoid contact with eyes, must be careful not to be splashed, may be toxic if ingested etc.

but you could be titrating orange juice which is tasty

Well you still dont want to splash it in your eyes, and if you splash it on your skin your skin gets all sticky.

if u're using glass pipettes, u can say not to hold the pipette below the bulb when inserting the pipette filler (cos it may break and stab into your palm)

well.. they are for pyromaniacs (but bunsen is just sooo cool, you can't resist.. anyways). Did you know they used to suck solutions into pipettes with their mouth?

Spreersy, you could also add wearing appropriate clothing (lab coat, shoes that doesn't expose your feet)
