i was dropping into uac.com.au to log in for preferences and i came across this pdf file about last years performance and scaling
the file seemed pretty detailed on how the uai is calculated ( sorry i dont rmbr but its somewhere on uac.edua.u...)
now the confusing bit is, it had a section on affects of uai by SC...
you guys are experts at this...can ne1 help clarify this?

Basically, they count the total candidature in the Higher School Certificate as the number of people who completed the School Certificate. Positions and ranks are compared to those in the School Certificate cohort.
In other words:
You know that if you get a UAI of 90.00 or above puts you in the top 10% of the cohort. However, it is actually the top 10% of the School Certificate candidiature or the top 10% of the number of people who completed the School Certificate in 2002.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
