Any approximations of what 48/50 in 3u maths and 92 in biology scales to? My actual exam marks were 48/50 and 91 respective. Raw mark for 3u is most likely 59/70 and no clue with bio. Just by comparing these exams to previous HSC exams, any educated guesses?

you can't conclude from those marks. the hsc exam is very different to the school exams.
but if you do get 59/70 it's around 95-96 hsc mark

Yeah my HSC mark was 48/50 so 95/96, but what about my scaled mark, the one to calculate my aggregate for my ATAR?

Put it in an ATAR calculator that gives an aggregate estimate. Then find out.

The aggregate you get for doing the subjects in 2013 will count towards your ATAR. So if the ATAR calculator is based on 2013 results (this will occur some time soon), then you can basically calculate how much of an aggregate you have in the bank at the moment.

Can you take an educated guess please? Wanna make sure my scaled marks are high enough.

You'll need to do this for all your subjects done in 2013 and include that in your 2014 ATAR (which is what the BoS does).

However, I don't think the ATAR calculators have been updated yet for 2013 aggregates. So you will need to estimate for now using other years.

Putting in Biology as 92 and MX1 as 96 (Assuming you are doing MX2), then your aggregate for these 4 units is around 181.1/200

What are you aiming for?

I would say that currently, those aggregates together would get you a 99.3 ATAR, considering everything else to be consistent.

Your Biology mark of 92 is equivalent for a 98 ATAR aggregate. Your MX1 mark of 96 is equivalent of a 99.90 ATAR aggregate.

EDIT: This was using the 2011 aggregates spewed out of the Matrix calculator.

Thanks, do you reckon, based on the difficulty of both exams as compared to 2011, that my scaled marks so far are similar to 181/200 or maybe higher by any chance?

I just calculated that for 2011. When the ATAR calculators have the option for 2013 aggregates, then you should calculate it again, as that will be the final aggregate (or similar as the Board does not disclose this info), which will count towards your 2014 ATAR.

But at the moment, I multiplied that aggregate by 2.5 to get an aggregate for 10 units, which puts you on track for roughly a 99.3 ATAR.

Yeah i know how you got it, and the 2013 scaling data most likely will come next year, so i was asking for approximations.

48/50 in 3U would scale to around 47.7/50 and 92 in Biology would scale to 43/50 (times 2 for 2 units).

But I'm not sure why you would want these scaled marks. The scaled marks are marks that UAC uses to determine your aggregate (or total), and this is used to determine your ATAR.

If those are your final HSC marks, you won't be given any other set of marks at a later date.

More like in a few months time or weeks time (not sure).

I think OP wanted to know if they were on track for their ATAR aim.

Also, those scaled marks may differ from year to year, so I just said that they may want to check up when the calculators are updated for 2013 as they may be more accurate.

Yeah OP probably wants to know what aggregate he is on at the moment, so OP probably wants to know their scaled marks.

Yeah i know, i just wanted to make sure they were high enough, i'm relying on these marks for next year too since they'll be included in my ATAR

Is this an approxination for this years exams? So I may actually get these scaled marks? If so then great!

Yeah all of these are approximations for past years exams (2012 and 2011 I think).

Not sure yet for 2013. Will have to check later on I suppose.

The matrix calculator was only recently updated woth the 2012 scaling data, doesnt it go each year it gives data from the previous year?
Idk, I never looked at the updates when they did update.

I provided the 2013 scaled marks using the 2013 data.
