Okay i got equal first in english advanced. If the other person gets a high mark, say 90 and i get a lower mark say 80, does her exam mark pull my scaled mark up or will i pull her down, or wont it make any difference. I am also in a class of only 4 students so will that make it not make any difference??

Thanx

If she gets 90 in the exam, you will both get 90 for your assessment mark. You will still keep your exam mark as your exam mark so essentially no one is pulling anyone else down.
She will come out with a higher HSC mark than you though

That is incorrect. If 2 people are tied first, then the average of the 2 highest exam marks will become their assessment mark.

Oh are you serious?
Oops lol
In that case...I guess you are pulling her down.

Does the same thing apply if there are 3 equal firsts?

Yes. The average of the THREE HIGHEST EXAM marks will become the moderated assessment mark for the three equal first students. PLUS their own exam mark.

Hmm...Thats not very fair to the truly smart people.
What happens when two people get 100% in 2u Maths because the exams were easy but the smarter of the two gets 100 in the HSC exam while the other gets something like...80?
Wouldn't he person who deserves to be top of the state will be moderated down because of the other student.

It is the teacher's responsibility to ensure that the submitted assessment marks adequately discriminate between students; they should not be tied unless they have demonstrated equal ability at school.

That assuming your 80/100 is the second highest.

If someone else got 89 and the top was 90, then your moderated assessment will be the average of the 89 and 90.

They take the average of the top 2 marks, not necesarily your mark.
