Hi, I'm planning to do a mid-year external transfer into UNSW B.Sci/B.Arts because it's broad, but I want to do the commerce subjects (microeconomics, business stats, management) in the arts component just in case I want to transfer into commerce. Is this possible? I'm quite confused with the handbook they have (http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2012/3930.html) I'm doing the Arts degree with science because I have more of an interest in the science area.

In the Arts component it says I have to do a home major stream, at least a minor stream and a prescribed faculty elective. Does that mean I have to choose a major as soon as I start the degree? - meaning that I would not be able to do those 3 commerce subjects?
Would I have to choose a Science major as soon as I start the degree as well?

If my questions are too confusing, can someone explain the handbook to me please? - and whether or not I can do those three subjects? :)

Thank you in advance! :D

Hello.

Yes, doing economic courses is possible with the Bachelor of Arts.

No, you choose your major during 2nd year. Same with science. You can do whatever first year courses you want during your first year in the areas of specialisation that are shown on the programme description on the handbook site.

I called up the arts faculty and they said I can't choose the commerce subjects because they're from another faculty, and because I'm doing a double degree - I can only do those subjects if I'm doing an Arts degree only, with the free electives. Nevertheless, thank you for your reply!
