Have a look at "Paul Sheriff Teaches Visual Basic 6"

I wouldn't say it's the greatest book out there....but it did help me do my major project. Though it was not enough...I ahd to get some online tutorials and other VB books. But if you are just starting VB...it's pretty alrite book.

[I am not recommending the above book in any ways....whether u like it or not...it's up to u]

in Feb 2004, it cost me $42.95 from Dymocks

VB's very easy to learn. Just master the syntax. IT's like a hierarchy, eg Command1.Caption means the caption of command1. if you have some problems, pm me!

about the book, use idiot's guide or dummies and if you need the deep stuff get the vb bible

I used a database in the major project, it was pretty simple. Just playing around with it i figured out how to add the database and then how to perform functions such as add, edit and delete fields.

Also, is there a site that contains the VB6 syntax?

For a list of all commands in VB press Ctrl-Space in the code editor. When you choose a command, it will pop up with the usage of it...

Otherwise press F1.

Um are you putting the CD in the same drive you installed MSDN from? It's picky about that...

well to be honest i have no idea. Ive tried looking on the net, but majority of it is pretty crappy. What i need is from a book, or something, like a guide on the basics so i can start my major work. Ill try looking tomorrow as ill be in the city.

I borrowed some books from the library to help me get started with the Visual Basic major project in Year 12. The books I borrowed:

Sams teach yourself Visual Basic 6 in 24 hours / Greg Perry, Sanjaya Hettihewa.
The complete idiot's guide to Visual Basic 6 / Clayton Walnum.

Those 2 are particularly helpful, I barely know anything on VB6 before I started the project and after reading the books, it helped a lot.

Casmira
Do you have Sam Davis Preliminary/HSC books, it explained the arrays bit pretty well.
Try this site also
http://hsc.csu.edu.au/sdd/core/cycle/array_string/standardalgorithmsarray.html

It helped me to get through the concept during my half-yearly exam.
Hope this helps :)
