Hey i just wanna know why the structure of the sdd syllabus is different to that of say physics, chemistry and all the other ones with the "explain" term stuff.

This is really annoying because different sources cover different points, as there is no clear definition of how much there is to be known.

you are right.

sdd is a new course. many of the terms and concepts that need to known are not detailed within the syllabus, however, they are (or should be) known by your teacher and they are detailed in the relevant texts.

for example, string manipulation algorithms are mentioned in the syllabus but none specifically. The Fowler text book goes through a few string manipulation functions, i am not sure about Davis.

the bottom line is all of the texts as well as syllabus should be consulted when preparing for the hsc.

i also know that the old 2 and 3 unit courses cover many concepts in the sdd syllabus. i have found that the past papers for these courses, which u can still download from the BOS website are useful.

They're not quite as relevant as you may think...MOST of the multiple choice questions are good practice, and some of the algorithms are quite tough. Other than that, a lot of it isn't necessary to learn.
