They should absolutely not be given medals. It just devalues these same medals that have been given for other people for actually doing something special. Find another way to honor them, build a monument or something, but don't give them medals.

just cuase you die , around where war is it doesnt mean u deserve a medal. they didnt do anytihng special. If they risked their life for another person / or did sometihng extraordinary then maybe.

and dont tell me they deserve cuase they risked their lives . then lets give every soldier a medal

Hows bout someone that dies in the production of an aircraft that's going to be used for the defence of australia? like omg! they died working to protect australia!

And the person who last did a maintenance check on the seaking, because without him, we wouldn't have 9 brave heros!!!

But really people... I can't see where this has come from....
I think if someone was helping australia and they died in an accident we should give them some sort of an award (maybe not a bravery medal), just out of respect for the other country, this is the only reason i think the indonesian president gave out those medals.

that was slackm, we dont know if it was due to maintenance probs - these aircraft are maintained soooo e\well - that was part of my fathers job, and they are checked 100% all the time

Medals are awarded under the most special of circumstances and this is no one of them.
