How are you suppose to make a surprised face the centre of your story???
by continuously presenting a shifting stream of events all of which are out of the ordinary I guess. Eg guy wakes up on ordinary day, goes through regular routine where everything is abnormal, is shocked, goes around checking what is going on, cannot understand why environment so different, then easy opportunity for whatever plot twist you desire in the end to finish. Like it turning out that he took mushrooms or something lelel

i used the man with the flying book.
and wrote about a change in perspective.
the daughter (metaphorically) took a page of her mother's wisdom which allowed her to soar ;)

recurring motif

'and again, upright as usual, stood the face stretched in many directions by the variety of unexpected extrinsic forces confronting it'

Don't know why I didn't post earlier, but I loved the creative haha

Was a trek to incorporate but once I worked it out it was sick

I wrote from the perspective of rain, who kept being intrigued by this one human and then one day (unexpectedly) discovered happiness through him. The compass I worked in in terms of it aligning at true north representing happiness, and I was also able to use the magnetism as part of my critique of consumerism
