Hello all, first post here!
Just want to know whether anyone here who has done or is doing 3-unit maths think that its possible to self teach it. I am currently in year 11, and only doing 2u maths :(. i am, however topping 2u maths (my marks are on par with the top 3u students for the 2u course ~ 90% +) and finding it far too easy and very basic. The reason i want to learn 3-unit is because i believe it will help me greatly for the uni course i want to take (engineering), and also because i am enjoying maths and motivated to learn more.

Questions:
1. Is it possible to self teach 3u maths and understand the concepts adequately without the help of a teacher?
2. How would i go about doing this, since i have no 3u maths textbook. Are there any good websites or pdfs out there for me to learn off? I would prefer not having to go out and buy a textbook for $40+ or hiring one but whatevz

Are 3U lessons at your school run before or after school? If so, you can try attending them. This is what I did with 4U before I got to year 12. Also it is possible to teach yourself 3U if you are motivated and have a passion/talent for mathematics.

It is possible to self teach 3U maths as long as you are motivated and you have a solid 2U foundation.

Also, check out this website: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/ It's a good summary for Calculus and a few other topics..

Holy fuck man! thankyou so much! you are an absolute legend! 1st link unfortunately costs money to see past the first 10 pages or something, but the 2nd link (jezza) was brilliant/free. Once again cannot thankyou enough! :) :)

Are you hoping to actually enrol in the Ext 1 course? I'm pretty sure your school would have to break the rules to enrol you this late (but it has been done). And if the course is actually offered in your school (which it obviously is), you are not permitted to enrol with an outside tutor (even if a tutor doesn't teach you, you need to be assessed by someone).

I am thinking it is possible to be self taught

Whether you could actually enrol for the course is another question without blasting through miles of red tape
