Out of curiosity, what kind of bass do you play? I've been teaching myself on my friend's, but I don't think it's much good.
At the moment im on a terrible (TERRIBLE) yamaha starter, i was saving for a mexican standard P bass but i had to buy a new computer instead. I've only been playing bass for a year now (Bought it after my engl1025 exam last year), but i've been playing guitar for years ;D

ooooh you're too cool man :D Electric or acoustic?
Yeah i started playing a bit of bass around mid sem break, figured it was time to try something different. But trust me your bass can't be as awful as my mate's, i seriously think he picked it up off a rubbish heap or something. Maybe it's cos most of my instruments at home are pretty good but still, geeeez.

From what I've heard Yamaha's are probably the best you're going to pick up in the <$500 range. Certainly better than the Ibanez's my mates have had and disposed of after ~6 months of playing.

I put a bit of effort into my setting up my bass, so it plays ok.
I play pretty much all electric (but i have a nylon string acoustic which collects alot of dust). Instruments are one of the best ways to procrastinate on uni work i reckon.

EDIT: yeah waf, thats what i heard before i started, so thats why i bought this one. I also have an ok solid state practice amp (Roland cube 30 watt), so it sounds OK i think.

So true man. My eclectic mix of instruments always gets a bit of a work out when exams get closer etc.

Yeahhh I'll probably go the yamaha, but i'm totally, hopelessly, head over heels in love with fenders. I got a buddy guy electric fender last year, it's amazing, best quality thing i own. It's the love of my life.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

p.s. got 20/25 for international marketing midsem, and 20/20 for the subject's particigaytion. Mildly disapointed with midsem mark, as I was hoping to use this subject to pull my mktg average up to about 88, as the subject is quite easy. Oh well: I need 26/35 for my video to get an HD in the subject. Excellent chances of that happening.

O yeah haha!

Carriageworks is up next to the train tracks. Basically, walk out of redfern station and walk down that little one-way street to your left for a bit and it's there.

Or walk down whatever road it is that goes past Wentworth, past the Sports centre, it eventually ends at Carriageworks.
