Blah. Do one of the other questions!

Read about the spirit of capitalism, class conflict and suicide. So much easier. :)

(I'm assuming the questions on the soc theory exam haven't changed)
1. What questions inspired the work of the ‘classical’ sociological theorists?
2. Why does Marx’s social theory focus on the process and conditions of
production?
3. What are, according to Durkheim, the chief characteristics of social facts?
4. What does Max Weber consider to be the main features of the economic ethic of
modern capitalism?
5. How does Simmel develop the idea that society is the outcome of the dynamic
of interaction?
6. What is the basis of the claim that George Herbert Mead views intersubjectivity
as prior to subjectivity?

Those are the questions.
They all seem pretty straight forward, but am I suppose to go more indepth when answering them?

Wooo because not wanting the government to regulate the shit out of everything totally fits the Draconian tag.

For SCLG2601, we've got a take home exam. One of the questions is as follows,

'What questions inspired the work of the ‘classical’ sociological theorists?'

Seems straight forward enough, am I just suppose to answer that, or critically analyse it aswell, and if so, how?
Wait, we already have the questions for the take home exam?

Ooh those have changed a bit.

I know what you mean. Those questions seem to be quite "descriptive" - asking what does this person think, rather than asking you to critically analyse what they think. From memory, my essays didn't do much evaluation or criticism of ppl's ideas because that wasn't what the questions were asking. You can, however, get some critical analysis going by comparing different theorists (eg. how did Marx differ from Hegel, how did Durkheim want to disassociate himself from psychology, how did Weber use the Protestant Ethic to criticise historial materialism).

I think, however, because it is a takehome exam, its really about understanding the material covered in the course thus far moreso than testing critical thinking etc. That was my impression when I did it last year anyways

Thank you so much for that Silver Persian! That was my thought process aswell, but you just never know with lecturers who just think they're the best and expect you to know what they meant, when clearly what they've written is different.

Hah I can see that. They're cockatiels? I love how it looks like they have red cheeks and they're blushing. :shy:

Aren't there usually fossilised bugs in those things? :S

I got some studying done today! I just crashed any empty lecture room I could find and just start in there and studied. I think that was better than fisher. Too many distractions.

You are one of my favourite users on bos. I have never laughed so hard at someone telling me to suck them off without being drunk.

You're so eloquent, I am in awe of you.
