our software lecturer said theres a university-wide quota on each grade - HD this is apparently 3% of the people doing the course, so that would be about 7-9 people for soft1001/1901 (they take the quota from both, so the marks are comparable)

Yeah it was 2-3% in soft i just find it hard to believe that i must of been in the top 10 for the past couple of sems
