Yes, Vice Chancellor's Week is a mini "holiday" during semester, though more like a study break :p. Most faculties also have a faculty stuvac week as well, but they are usually in different weeks for each faculty, so if you're doing a combined degree (or electives from another faculty), then it'll be a bit all over the place. For example, Business subjects have their stuvac in the last week of semester (the week before exams) and IT subjects have their stuvac something during semester (sometimes together with VC Week to make your holidays 2 weeks or seperate to give you two 1 week breaks).

Wait until Week 1 when you get your subject outlines and it'll tell you your breaks per subject.

hey guys,
i have a problem; we've got dates booked to go overseas from 26th november onwards, and if the exams go from 11th november - 1st december then im in a bit of a pickle. is there a way to do exams earlier/later than the set dates? because in the diary it said semester goes until 13th november, i presumed this included exams as well.
if we change/cancel, a pretty hefty penalty applies as well.

any help is greatly appreciated.

thanx in advance.

You should be fine.

I remember being told by the toor guy last year when I enrolled. The UNI is laid back if you have a good reason you can do it later not sure about earlier.

Of course if you give them a stoopid reason like I was too lazy, you won't get anything.

There is even less uni if you are a communications student, because there is no exams. We only have 26 weeks of classes in the whole year... that's like half the year is uni half is hols!

Very good news.

Is it also true that comm students only have pass/fail grades this year?
