Study at USYD, never have any issues at uni, even walked to Redfern Station at midnight by myself several times. Often stay in the lab overnight before assignments due and had no problem at all. I have seen police/security guards turn up and check everyone's student card in the lab before. I feel pretty safe all the time, I would say if you be cautious and don't do stupid things, you will be fine.

What a lovely sweep of answers ^_^ I don't know what I was expecting, but at the worst I thought it might reveal posts upon posts of sexual assault experiences, or the 'ungainly truth' no one wants to read, but from what I'm gleaming of it, the general consensus seems to be if you're careful and keep your common sense about you, you'll stay out of trouble. This was a nice thread to read, thanks yall for responding and to those who like to party - remember to drink safely and get a confirmed ride home ^-^
