Use available evidence to predict the rate of corrosion of a metal wreck at great depths in the oceans and give reasons for the prediction made.

Gah not sure what to address for this dotpoint
any ideas?

slow

Low [oxygen]. Therfore little galvanic corrosion

However, corrosion does occur due to sulfate reducing bacteria

U need to express knowledge of low oxygen due to lack of light in deep ocean which means no photosynthesis. U also need to express knowledge of the rduction of concentrations of gases as depth increases and increase in pressure. Then come to a logic conclusion that under these coditions corrosion is not expected to occur. Then u may need a case study to show the existence of corrosion in deep sea water. U may need to also show the change in conc of salts as depth decreases. Graphs may b key to your response. Then discuss bacterial corrosion givin specific reasons y corrosion occurs. possible 7 marker.

At great depths:
- low oxygen concentrations --> oxygen needed for oxidation to occur --> therefore absence of oxygen stops corrosion
- low temperatures --> reduce rate of reaction --> rate of corrosion is reduced
- high amounts of sulfate-reducing bacteria --> these are anaerobic therefore can live in great depths --> increases rate of corrosion
Particles have greater kinetic energy when they have greater thermal energy.

Helps ua explanation with a real example e.g. titanic and the endevour. May or may not be essential to ua explanation.
